On February 22, 1991, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 700th Anniversary of Switzerland. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washingto, DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features William Tell and his son, as well as a map of Switzerland, the Swiss flag, and the Bundeshaus, the Swiss house of Parliament. The producer of this cover has also written a short history of the events leading to Swiss independence and the role, whether fact of fiction, of William Tell. We have included a copy for you.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
