On June 4, 1948, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the settlement in the Middle West of the Swedish Pioneers. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Chicago, IL) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a Swedish pioneer family in their conestoga wagon pulled by oxen as well as a Viking Ship and a globe showing North America. What a great gift for a family that can trace its Swedish roots back to the early settlement of the Midwest!
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
