On August 26, 1999, the USPS issued a set of five stamps celebrating five different historic passenger trains. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp commemorating the Super Chief, the flagship of the Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe RR, cancelled from the city of issue (Cleveland, Ohio) on the first day of issue captioned above. Known as "The Train of the Stars," the Super Chief whisked passengers across the country from Chicago to Los Angeles.
The color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the legendary red & yellow engine rounding a curve through the orange groves of California. Great art, unaddressed, this cover is a collectible, historic piece of railroad and postal memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
