Star Trek...

On September 8, 1966, NBC launched a science-fiction television program created by writer Gene Roddenberry to "boldly go where no man has gone before."  It is no surprise that the USPS selected StarTrek as one of the fifteen people and events to represent the decade of the 1960's in its brilliant Celebrate the Century Series - 150 stamps in total.
Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the Star Trek stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Green Bay, WI) on the first day of issue (September 17, 1999.)  If you are madly scratching your head at this point, wondering why Green Bay would be selected as the city of issue, no, there is no obscure connection to that illustrious city and Star Trek.  It turns out that two of the other events representing the 1960's are - The First Super Bowl and the Green Bay Packers....need we say more.  Note the special postmark created to cancel this set of stamps on its 'birthday.'

The cachet features a small drawing of all fifteen events for the 1960's - from the moon landing, to Vietnam, the Barbie Doll, the Beatles and the USS Enterprise.  Double matted in blue and white, this historic, collectible piece of postal and Star Trek memorabilia is sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame allowing you to choose what looks best with your decor.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
