On July 15, 1976, the USPS issued two stamps to commemorate the Apollo-Soyuz Space Mission, a joint US-Soviet Cooperation in Manned Space Flight. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with both stamps cancelled from the city of issue (Kennedy Space Center, Fl.) on the first day of issue captioned above. These are large full-color stamps, one depicting bothe space vehicles joined together; the other the two vehicles disengaged.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope shows the link-up of both space vehicles. Note: The USSR also issued two stamps commemorating this event - also issued on the same date. Look for it in our Space Catagory.
