On August 26, 1978, the USPS issued a set of four stamps commemorating Owls found in the U.S....Great Gray Owl, Saw-whet Owl, Barred Owl, and Great Horned Owl. On this First Day Cover, all four stamps are cancelled from the city of issue (Fairbanks, Alaska) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The beautiful full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features another owl, the Snowy Owl, who makes his home in the barren tundra regions north of the treeline. This lovely cachet plus the fact that the entire series is cancelled on the first day make this cover collectible and historic.
Double matted in blue & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included plus a short commemtary on the Snowy Owl***
