On January 12, 2000, the USPS issued a set of fifteen stamps to represent the decade of the 1980's in their series of 150 stamp (15 for each decade) called Celebrate the Century. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for the stamp honoring the San Francisco 49ers. Their four Super Bowl wins during the 1980's led them to be chosen as one of the 15 most significant events of the 1980's. The 49ers along with the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburg Steelers are the only three Professional Football Teams to be honored with a US stamp, and, all three stamps come out of this Celebrate the Century Series. The envelope features the stamp which is cancelled from the city of issue (Titusville, FL) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special postmark indicating the decade of the 1980's and The Celebrate the Century Series.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows legendary quarterback Joe Montana and Coach Bill Walsh. This cover is extremely hard to find; the fact that the cachet features Montana is a real plus. Score a winning touchdown with this piece of 49ers Memorabilia offered by Wall Art Collectibles.
Double matted in red and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
