Sequoyah....

On December 27, 1980, the USPS honored a most remarkable man - Sequoyah, raised a Cherokee and the father of the Cherokee alphabet.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Tahlequah, OK) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a portrait of Sequoyah with the Cherokee alphabet in the background.  The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary of Sequoyah, which we have included. Read more in this included addition to the cover.

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY PLUS  COMMENTARY  INCLUDED***
