On October 5, 1964, the USPS issued a stamp to honor the Father of Modern Rocketry, Robert H. Goddard. In 1926 the world's first liquid fuel rocket was launched, Goddard's invention. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Roswell, NM) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a drawing of the Goddard rocket and a small inset of Goddard himself.

Double matted in blue & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
