Railway COAL CAR 1st Day Postal Cover COAL CAR Stamp.... On February 3, 1984, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the Railway Coal Car, its size growing from less than a ton of the early days to more than 50 tons. Shown here is a genuine First Day Postal Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Pittsburgh, PA) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet
(artwork on the envelope) features a line of several railway coal cars
with the caption, "Railway Coal Car - Coal was the cargo and fuel
around which the railways were built." The company that produced this
cover has also written a brief commentary about the coal car, which
we've included.
Double matted in blue and white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
