Railroad Handcar... On March 25, 1983, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the Railroad Handcar,
a small open railroad car, propelled by a hand pump or a simple motor,
used to transport workers over short distances. Shown here is a genuine
First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp depicting an 1880's Handcar cancelled from the city of issue (Rochester, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full color cachet (artwork
on the envelope) features four men on a handcar. The writing below
states, "Railroad Handcar - This remarkable vehicle helped the
railroad to stretch across the American Continent." Postal Stamp Art is proud to bring you another collectible, historic piece of railroad and postal memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & maroon, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
