On February 3, 1984, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the Railroad Caboose. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, in this case a Proofcard with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Rosemont, Il.) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note: the word 'caboose' comes from the French word cambose which is the nautical word for the house on the deck of a ship.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the Caboose, another vestige of a bygone railroad era. Great art, unaddressed, this cover is a collectible, historic piece of railroad and postal memorabilia.
Matted in blue, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included plus a short commemtary on the Caboose***
