On September 26, 1969, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate 100 Years of Intercollegiate Football....a game that was played in 1869 between Rutgers and Princeton. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (New Brunswick, NJ) on the first day of issue captioned above. Because there is no US stamp for Professional Football, this stamp serves the purpose of commemorating Football in general.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a kick-off and answers the question, "Who won?" It was Rutgers! Uncancelled and in perfect condition, this is a great piece of Football Memorabilia.
Double matted in green and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
