Rural Free Delivery....
On August 7, 1996, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Rural Free Delivery. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp, depicting a rural carrier in front of his horse-drawn mail truck, cancelled from the city of issue (Charleston, WV) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) mirrors the stamp with a horse-drawn mail truck in a rural setting. It's rendered in watercolors by award-winning cachet artist, Sue Allen. Collectible, historic, this is a great piece of US postal memorabilia and a must-have for any rural carrier.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
