Roberto Clemente - 300th Hit - September 30, 1972...
Shown here is a black & white photo print of Pittsburgh Pirate legend Roberto Clemente waving to the crowd after his 3000th hit. The event occurred almost 3 months exactly to the day of his tragic death in December. We've combined this print with 3 uncancelled, collectible postal stamps. In the center is the second US stamp honoring Clemente. Issued in 2000, he was one of 20 baseball players in a set called Legends of Baseball. On the left is the US stamp celebrating Forbes Field - early home to the Pittsburgh Pirates. On the right, is the 1969 US stamp honoring the centennial of Professional Baseball.
Matted in black, it's sized to fit a standard 11x14 frame.
