Richard Wright....

The USPS honored novelist,essayist, poet, and short story writer Richard Wright with a stamp on April 9, 2009.  Wright's notable works include Native Son, Black Boy, Uncle Tom's Children and The Outsider.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the 61-cents stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Chicago, IL) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the unique postmark created to cancel this stamp on its 'birthday.'

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a portrait of Wright with the cover for his book Black Boy in the background.  It's printed on silk, surrounded by gold embossing Historic, collectible it's matted in blue & white and will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
