On June 13, 1987, the USPS issued 50 stamps to celebrate American Wildlife. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for the Red-Winged Blackbird with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (the USPS Station at the Canadian Stamp Show in Toronto) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a Red-Winged Blackbird on a slender branch with mouth agape...you can almost hear its 'rusty-gate' voice now. The male of this species features a velvet black plumage with red epaulettes fringed in gold. In flight, the splash of red against the black is magical to see!
Double Matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
