On August 19, 1993, the USPS issued a stamp celebrating the Red Rose. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with this stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Houston, TX) on the first day of issue captioned above. The addition of three older stamps celebrating the Rose, cancelled along with the 29 cents stamp on its 'birthday,' make this a Combo. The three older stamps commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the International Peace Garden in Shreveport, LA (1982), a fifteen cents Rose stamp depicting a red and yellow rose (1978), and an 18 cents stamp showing a large red rose (1981.)
The color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features two large roses and gardener's hands. Historic, collectible, this Combo is an extra special 1st Day Cover geared for the Rose Lover.
Double matted in green and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
