Pueblo Hopi Art KACHINA DOLL 1st Day of Issue Postal Cover.... On April 13, 1977, the USPS issued a set of four stamps celebrating Pueblo Art. Each stamp features a different Pot and the place where each pot is displayed. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp, depicting a Hopi pot from the Heard Museum in Phoenix, AZ, cancelled from the city of issue (Santa Fe, New Mexico) on the first day of issue captioned above. In short, it's the 'birthday' of the stamp - a collectible, historic piece of postal and Pueblo - Hopi memorabilia.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a Hopi woman holding a Kachina Doll;
note too that the pot on the stamp also features a Kachina design.
The text below reads, "The Hopi Theirs the legacy of ageless arts -
sacred symbols of Pueblo Life." The producer of this cover has written a
brief commentary about the Hopi and Kachina Dolls, which we've
included.
Double matted in blue and white. it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included*** |
