PUEBLO ART Zia Pot 1st Day of Issue Postal Cover.... On April 13, 1977, the USPS issued a set of four stamps celebrating Pueblo Art. Each stamp features a different Pot and the place where each pot is displayed. Shown here is a genuine First Day of Issue Postal Cover, an envelope with the stamp, depicting a Zia pot from the Museum of New Mexico, cancelled from the city of issue (Santa Fe, New Mexico) on the first day of issue postal cover captioned above. In short, it's the 'birthday' of the stamp - a collectible, historic piece of postal and Pueblo - Zia memorabilia.
The full-color cachet (artwork
on the envelope) shows a Zia man and woman. The text below reads,
"The Zia - Theirs the inheritance of a thousand years of Pueblo
Culture." The producer of this cover has written a brief commentary
about the Zia, which we've included.
