PUEBLO ART San Ildefonso Pot 1st Day Postal Cover.... On April 13, 1977, the USPS issued a set of four stamps celebrating Pueblo Art. Each stamp features a different Pot and the place where each pot is displayed. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp, depicting a San Ildefonso pot from the Denver Art Museum, cancelled from the city of issue (Santa Fe, New Mexico) on the first day of issue postal cover captioned above. In short, it's the 'birthday' of the stamp - a collectible, historic piece of postal and Pueblo - San Ildefonso memorabilia.
The full-color cachet (artwork
on the envelope) shows a San Ildefonso man and woman. The text below
reads, "The San Ildefonso - Theirs the faith in the symbols and
substance of the Pueblo Spirit." The producer of this cover has written
a brief commentary about the San Ildefonso, which we've included.
