PUEBLO ART Acoma Pot 1st Day of Issue Postal Cover.... On April 13, 1977, the USPS issued a set of four stamps celebrating Pueblo Art. Each stamp features a different Pot and the place where each pot is displayed. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp, depicting an Acoma pot from the School of American Research, cancelled from the city of issue (Santa Fe, New Mexico) on the first day of issue postal cover captioned above. In short, it's the 'birthday' of the stamp - a collectible, historic piece of postal and Pueblo - Acoma memorabilia.
The full-color cachet (artwork
on the envelope) shows an Acoma woman with a pot atop her heard. The
text below reads, "The Acoma - Theirs the memory of a Golden Age of
Pueblo Art." The producer of this cover has written a brief commentary
about the Acoma, which we've included.
