Thomas Jefferson.... On April 13, 1993, the USPS issued a stamp to honor the 2nd President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson on the 250th Anniversary of his Birth. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope showing the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Charlottesville, Va.) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Jefferson with the Declaration of Independence in the background and the rotunda at the University of Virginia in the foreground. This is a collectible, historic piece of Presidential memorabilia. Also included is a short historical commentary on Jefferson.
