Peter Max....

On May 30, 1997, the United Nations issued a souvenir sheet, a large stamp surrounded by words and colorful border, designed by noted Pop Artist Peter Max.  A whimsical dreamscape, depicting colorful boats with fanciful sails in a psychedelic palette adrift on azure seas with islands and a large sun in the middle, delights our senses.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the souvenir sheet cancelled from the city of issue (New York, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above.  These stamps commemorate the Earth Summit + 5.  Note the special cancellation, featuring a view of the UN Building in NYC, designed to cancel this stamp on its 'birthday.'

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a full-color rendition of a tree and doves with the artist's signature.  If you love the fanciful designs and brilliant vibrant color palette of Peter Max, here's a chance to own a historic and collectible piece of Peter Max and postal memorabilia.....think of it as a mini art print for your wall.

It's double matted in  blue & white and will fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
