On September 26,1984, the USPS issued a stamp to call attention to Crime Prevention, a program suggested in 1965 by President Lyndon Johnson, making crime prevention everyone's business.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Issue, an envelope with the stamp depicting McGruff, The Crime Dog in his trenchcoat, cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a Police Officer at a police scanner. The producer of this cover has also written a brieg commentary about Crime Prevention...we've included a copy.  Historic, collectible, this is a great piece of Police Memorabilia.

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
