Crime Prevention.....
On September 26,1984, the USPS issued a stamp to call attention to Crime Prevention, a program suggested by President Lyndon Johnson, making crime prevention everyone's business. Shown here is a genuine First Day Issue, an envelope with the stamp depicting McGruff, The Crime Dog in his trenchcoat, cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a Police Officer with various accouterments of law enforcement. The producer of this cover has also written a brief commentary about Crime Prevention, which we've included. Historic, collectible, this is a great piece of Police Memorabilia, especially for any officer who works in a Canine Division.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
