On November 4, 1983, the USPS issued a set of four airmail stamps to commemorate the upcoming 1984 Summer Olympic Games hosted by Los Angeles, and the sport of Pole Vaulting. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp for Pole Vaulting cancelled from the city of issue (Colorado Springs, CO) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features an athlete making his descent having just pole vaulted over the bar. Printed on silk, the luster of the fabric gives the picture an almost 3-dimensional quality. Historic, collectible, this is a great piece of Pole Vaulting Memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
