The USPS honored Henry W. Longfellow with a stamp in 1940.  In 1989 a company decided to produce a Commemorative Cover to celebrate this stamp.  In this case, the postal cancellation "freezes" the day Longfellow was born (February 27) and the city in which he spent most of his life and where he died in 1882 (Cambridge, Ma.)  The only reason the flag stamp is on the envelope is that the USPS will not cancel unless there is current postage.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the an original Longfellow stamp issued 2/16/40 in mint condition (uncancelled and unaffixed.)

If you're a Longfellow fan and a lover of poetry, this is for you!  Collectible, historic, it's a real conversation piece for your wall.

Matted in green, we've sized this to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***A Short Bio of Longfellow is Included ***
