The USPS honored the greatest playwright of all time, William Shakespeare with a stamp in 1964 - the 400th anniversary of his birth. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Stratford, Conn.) on the first day of issue (August 14,1987.)
