Physicist RICHARD FEYNMAN Matted 1st Day Postal Cover.... On May 4, 2005, the USPS issued a set of four stamps honoring four American Scientists - John von Neumann, Josiah Willard Gibbs, Barbara McClintock, and Richard Feynman. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp for Richard Feynman cancelled from the city of issue (New Haven, CT) on the first day of issue
captioned above. Note the special 'atom' postmark created to cancel
this set of stamps on their 'birthday', featuring the name of each
scientist.
The black and white cachet (artwork
on the envelope) depicts a photo of Feynman in the classroom with the
following caption below, "Theoretical physicist Feynman shared the
1965 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on quantum electrodynamics."
To the right of the picture is part of one of his "Feynman diagrams," a
compilation of arrows and squiggles that show particle activity.
Collectible, historic, this cover honors one of the twentieth century's
most influential scientists, who will be remembered for his gentle wit,
insatiable curiosity, and brilliant mind. The company that produced
this cover has also written a brief commentary on the career of Richard
Feynman, which we've included.
Double matted in blue and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
