On August 30, 1948, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the dedication of the 200 inch telescope at Palomar Mountain Observatory in California. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Palomar Mountain) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a drawing of the observatory and a photo of the dedication ceremony on June 3, 1948. This is a wonderful cover, old, historic and collectible.
Double matted in blue & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
