Pacific Coral Reef.....Lionfish
On January 2, 2004, the USPS issued a set of ten large, full-colored stamps commemorating the Pacific Coral Reef...from brightly colored tropical fish to exotic marine coral formations, to scary predators on patrol. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with one of the ten stamps, this one for the spectacular Lionfish, cancelled from the city of issue (Honolulu, HI) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows the Lionfish, an opportunistic nocternal predator with venomous dorsal spines. The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary about this fascinating reef fish, which we've included. For more information about the other nine stamps in the series, see individual First Day Covers, and also the entire Pacific Coral Reef Souvenir Sheet in the 11x14 size.
Double matted in blue and white, we've sized it to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
