On Noverber 19, 1993, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the founding of Puerto Rico by Christopher Columbus. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (San Juan, PR) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Christopher Columbus. The stamp shows Columbus' ships landing in Puerto Rico. The producer of this cover wrote a short history of this event; we have included a copy for you.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
