On April 3, 1940, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of The Pony Express Service from St. Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Sacramento, CA) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a pony express rider at full gallop. Collectible, historic, this is a great piece of postal and Western US memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
