Peter Max.... On April 18, 1974, The USPS issued a stamp to call commemorate Expo '74 - the first ecology World's Fair held in Spokane, Washington. The stamp was designed by Pop Artist Peter Max, known for his fanciful characters and arresting colors. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp depicting the Peter Max character, The Cosmic Jumper cancelled from the city of issue (Spokane, Washington) on the first day of issue captioned above. Although Max has designed stamps for the United Nations, this stamp is the only US stamp he has designed.

Nature, and of Man.' As one critic commented about the art of Peter
Max - "Cosmos!!!! Dynamite!!!! Incredible colors...the colors bleed;

the sky. Nebulous quasarian galaxies." I couldn't make that up! This
cachet reinforces the importance of clean water with a fanciful
sailboat skimming across blue water. Collectible, historic,
