On August 26, 1987, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the Statehood of Pennsylvania. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the full-color stamp, depicting Independence Hall, cancelled from the city of issue (Harrisburg, PA) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features several vignettes of Pennsylvania. The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary about Pennsylvania, which we've included.
