The USPS honored the author and recipient of a Pulitzer prize as well as the Nobel prize for literature, Pearl S. Buck, with a stamp in 1983. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Hillsboro, W.V.) on the first day of issue (June 25, 1983.)
