On May 1, 1968, the USPS issued a stamp honoring the Centennial of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Chicago) on the first day of issue captioned above. The addition of five other 'sevice to youth' stamps - Future Farmers of America, 4-H, Newspaperboys of America, Camp Fire Girls, and Boys' Clubs of America Movement, make this a Combo. These older stamps were added along with the Elks stamp and then all six were cancelled on the "birthday" of the Elks stamp.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the founder of the Elks, Charles Vivian and the insignia of the Elks.
Double matted in blue and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
