On August 15,1987, the USPS issued a stamp to honor Red Cloud, leader of the Ogala Sioux Nation at the age of 40. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Red Cloud, NE) on the first day of issue captioned above. In short, it's the 'birthday' of the stamp - a collectible, historic piece of postal and Indian memorabilia.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a picture of Red Cloud printed on silk surrounded by gold embossing. This is a beautiful piece of postal stamp art that would incorporate nicely with other southwest art on a wall.
Double matted in green and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
