On July 11, 1995, the USPS issued a stamp to honor Alice Hamilton and her work with occupational diseases, which led to the enactment of worker's compensation laws in the U.S. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Boston, MA) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Hamilton as well as a small inset of a miner in the foreground and the heavy, smoke-laden sky of an industrial town in the background. The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary of Alice Hamilton, which we've included.
Double matted in green & white, it will fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
