Comiskey Park - "Baseball Palace to the World"......
On September 30,1990, the last game - between the White Sox and the Mariners, with a win by the Sox, ended an era lasting 80 years. In 1991, Old Comiskey was demolished making way for Comiskey II built next door. Host to the first All-Star Game in 1933 to the first 'exploding' scoreboard in 1960, Comiskey Park is truly one of America's Classic Ball Parks. Wall Art Collectibles has combined a photo print of Old Comiskey taken on the day of the last game played with three uncancelled, historic, and collectible postal stamps. On the left is the stamp for Comiskey Park issued on June 27, 2001, one of only ten parks selected to be honored with a stamp; in the center is a stamp issued in 1988 from the island of Grenada to honor White Sox legend, Luis Aparicio; finally, on the right is the 1969 stamp issued to commemorate the centennial of Professional Baseball.
Matted in black, this piece is sized to fit a standard 11x14 frame.
