Ohio State Buckeyes - 2006 NCAA Champions.....
On January 2, 2006 in Tempe, Arizona, the Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, becomming the 2006 National Football Champions. Shown here is a historic Commemorative Postal Cover "freezing" the date and city the game took place with a postmark from the Tempe Post Office on the aforementioned date. On a Commemorative Cover, the stamp merely serves the purpose of supplying current postage (in this case, a 37-cents U.S. Flag Stamp was used) for, without it, the Post Office would not affix a postmark.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the field of the Fiesta Bowl as well as the logos for Ohio State and the Fiesta Bowl. On the lower right is the final score: Ohio State 34 - Notre Dame 20. Historic, collectible, and a visual knockout, any Ohio State fan will love this piece of postal collegiate football memorabilia! And, hey, this also applies to you Notre Dame fans as well - vying for the National Championship is an honor...just ask the Ohio State people about 2007....no one wins them all.
Beautifully triple matted in red and white, we have sized this piece to fit a standard 11x14 frame.
