On December 28, 1961, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Nursing Profession in America. Shown here is a genuine Commemorative Cover, an envelope with the Nursing stamp cancelled on the day of issue (December 28) from the city of issue (Washington DC), 18 years after the stamp was first issued.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a painting by Norman Rockwell for the May 30, 1936 cover of the Saturday Evening Post, drawing its inspiration from one of the illustrations he did for Tom Sawyer.

Matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame.  ***A detailed commentary about the painting, the stamp, and the history of Nursing is included***
