Painted in 1936, Norman Rockwell's love of nostalgia is captured in his rendition of a Barbershop Quartet. Having its roots in America's Black churches, fairly simple tunes are sung in four-part harmony in the syle of a cappella. Rockwell painted from live models and photos of real people, giving authenticity to the people in his paintings....from facial expressions to mannerisms...it's as if they could step out of the painting and start up a conversation, or , in this case, serenade us with their song.
We've paired this full-color art print with an uncancelled stamp celebrating American Music issued in 1964.
Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame.
