On April 23, 1973, the USPS issued a stamp to honor the Polish Astonomer Nicolaus Copernicus on the 500th Anniversary of his birth. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a drawing of the Solar System in proper order with a portait of Copernicus.

Double matted in blue & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
