New Mexico Rio Grande Blankets.... On July 30, 2005, the USPS issued a set of four stamps to commemorate four New Mexico Rio Grande Blankets - Top Row left - Spanish Design; right - Mexican Design; Bottom Row left - Pueblo Design; and, right -Navajo Design. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with all four stamps cancelled from the city of issue (Santa Fe, NM) on the first day of issue captioned above. In short, it's the 'birthday' of the stamp - a collectible, historic piece of postal and Indian memorabilia.
The full-color cachet (artwork
on the envelope) shows four Native American Weavers. The company that
produced this cover has written a brief commentary about the history of
New Mexico Rio Grande Blankets.
Double matted in blue and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
