NEGRO LEAGUES Rube Foster 1st Day Postal Cover 4 Stamps.... On July 15, 2010, the USPS issued a pair of stamp commemorating the Negro Leagues Baseball. One stamp shows a runner safe at home plate, while another shows Andrew 'Rube' Foster - pitcher, manager, owner & league organizer. Shown here is a genuine First Day Postal Cover, an envelope with both stamps cancelled from the city of issue (Kansas City, MO) on the first day of issue captioned above. The addition of two older stamps - the 2006 stamp honoring Roy Campanella, and the 1988 Grenada stamp honoring Jackie Robinson, which were cancelled along with the Negro Leagues stamps, elevates this cover to a Combo. Note the special postmark, created to cancel this pair of stamps on their 'birthday.'
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features Satchell Paige, the Pittsburgh Crawfords, and Andrew 'Rube' Foster.
Double matted in blue and white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
