Navajo Weaving - Navajo Woman.... On September 4, 1986, the USPS issued a set of four stamps commemorating Navajo Art. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with one of these stamps, featuring a Navajo Weaving displayed in the Museum of the American Indian, cancelled from the city of issue (Window Rock, Arizona) on the first day of issue captioned above. In short, it's the 'birthday' of the stamp - a collectible, historic piece of postal and Indian memorabilia.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a Navajo Woman
with a Navajo blanket behind her. The caption under the picture
reads, "Navajo Woman - Navajo blankets have been meticulously woven by
hand for centuries." The producer of this cover has also written a
brief commentary about the important position of women in Navajo
society. A copy has been included.
Double matted in blue and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY PLUS COMMENTARY INCLUDED***
