On July 15, 2006, the USPS issued a set of four stamps honoring Baseball Sluggers - Roy Campanella, Mickey Mantle, Mel Ott, and Hank Greenberg.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp for Mickey Mantle, cancelled from the city of issue (Bronx, New York) on the first day of issue captioned above.  Note the special postmark of a 'slugger' designed expressly to cancel this set of stamps on their 'birthday.'

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a bat, glove, and baseball with 'Mickey Mantle' on it.  It's printed on silk, the luster lending an-almost three dimensional quality to the picture and a vibrancy to the color.

We have paired this First Day Cover with a full-color photo print of Mickey Mantle - the New York Yankees switch-hitter who hit 536 home runs, including a record 18 home runs in World Series play.  Three-time American League MVP, he won the triple crown in 1956.  A baseball legend, Mickey Mantle becomes the fourth Yankee to be honored with a U.S. stamp.  Historic, collectible, this combination First Day Cover and close-up portrait of Mantle will be a welcome addition to your home or office.

Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 11x14 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
