On December 28, 1961, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Nursing Profession in America. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a young nurse with her cap and diploma with two other new nurses in the background. This cover was produced by the American Hospital Supply Corporation and is unusual for its large size and the cachet in color. In 1961, almost all major cachet-makers were only offering black & white artwork. Historic and unaddressed, this cover is one of the most difficult to find. Wall Art Collectibles is proud to offer it to you.
Matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
